Position Description

We are seeking a mid to senior-level Program Support Specialist skilled in Democracy, Rights & Governance (DRG) to join our team at the USAID Ghana Mission. This position will provide essential support to the DRG Office in the effective programming and management of funds allocated for human rights protection and capacity building initiatives.

 

We are seeking candidates who can start immediately.

 

Location: USAID Ghana Mission
Work Type: Short Term, Consultant
Period of Performance: ~60-180 days
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: Range starting at $85/hourly

Responsibilities

Human Rights Award

• Collaborate with mission staff to identify priority activities aimed at protecting Ghanaians from human rights abuses and enhancing the capacity of rights organizations.
• Conduct consultations with key stakeholders, including internal mission staff and external partners, to inform the development of targeted interventions.
• Assist in the documentation of human rights abuses and explore strategies to bolster the security of human rights defenders facing risks.
Deliverable: Comprehensive documentation of priority activities for the Human Rights Award, including stakeholder consultations and proposed interventions.

 

FASA Award Procurement Support
• Provide assistance in preparing for the modification of the FASA award to incorporate additional funding for economic resilience initiatives.
• Work closely with mission personnel to ensure that the modification aligns with the objectives outlined in the Request for Task Order Proposal (RFTOP).
• Facilitate communication and coordination between relevant stakeholders to streamline the procurement process.
Deliverable: Modified FASA award proposal outlining the incorporation of economic resilience funding and its alignment with program objectives.

 

CDCS Support (To Be Determined)
• Offer support as needed in the implementation of activities outlined in the Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS).
• Collaborate with program managers to identify areas where additional assistance is required to achieve program objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree international development, political science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• At least five (5) years of experience working in the field of democracy, rights, and governance, preferably in an international development context.
• Knowledge of USAID operations including activity design and contract monitoring.
• Candidates should have a solid understanding of USAID's operational framework in field settings, coupled with experience in the sectors of democracy, human rights, and governance.
• Familiarity with Ghanaian knowledge and affairs is preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
