The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – System Administrator will provide specialized IT systems administration support to the FBI Polygraph Unit (PU), Security Division (SecD). This role requires deep technical expertise in polygraph systems, including both hardware and software, and the ability to maintain, secure, and enhance mission-critical IT infrastructure in compliance with FBI policies and federal security standards.
This position is designated as Key Personnel under the contract and is contingent upon contract award
Location: FBI Headquarters, Washington, DC
Work Schedule: Full-time, On-site
Clearance Requirement: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; must maintain clearance for the duration of the contract.
Administer PU servers, ensuring operational functionality, applying software updates, and maintaining security patches.
Install, configure, and maintain FBI polygraph software and hardware systems, with an emphasis on Lafayette Polygraph software.
Manage Microsoft Windows Server and client environments, including Windows 10 Pro, Windows 11, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office products.
Evaluate and recommend hardware/software upgrades to maintain system performance and compliance with FBI enterprise requirements.
Implement and manage system security tools (e.g., Pointsec, BitLocker, McAfee enterprise solutions) for laptops, flash drives, and related devices.
Provide rapid-response technical support for system failures, abnormal conditions, or cyber incidents.
Oversee FBI Property Management system tasks, including the accountability of more than 600 items of polygraph inventory.
Deliver technical training for new FBI polygraph examiners at the NCCA federal polygraph school.
Support annual FBI polygraph conferences and training events with technical expertise.
Maintain and update the Polygraph Examiner’s Digital Manual and PU website.
Provide technical briefings and instructions to field personnel during system changes.
Support enterprise database design, administration, and related polygraph program initiatives.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years working with polygraph software and hardware, including Lafayette Instrument Company, Limestone Technologies, Axciton Systems, and Stoelting Company products.
Technical Knowledge:
Intimate working knowledge of Lafayette Polygraph software.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows server operating systems, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 11, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with FBI polygraph software, hardware, and associated databases.
Security: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. Must meet FBI residency and suitability requirements.
Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; ability to interpret statutory, regulatory, and procedural directives; strong written and oral communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Programming, Management Information Systems, or related field.
Extensive knowledge of FBI polygraph policies and their applicability to polygraph software and systems.
Advanced working knowledge of FBI’s Property Management system.
Experience supporting mission-critical IT environments within a federal law enforcement or intelligence community setting.
